TAMAKI YACHT CLUB.

TENTH ANNUAL MEETING. LIFE MEMBERS ELECTED. The tenth annual meeting of the Tamaki Yacht Club was held on Thursday evening in the clubhouse, Bastion Point, the commodore, Mr. \Y. A. Wilkinson, presiding oyer a large attendance of members, including a number of ladies. The chairman welcomed the members anil saiil it was the first time the annual meeting was held in their own clubhouse. An apology was received from the patron, Mr. Ernest Davis, who was out of town, and he wished the club continued success. The commodore, in reviewing the past scaison, said that the outstanding event of the year hail been the erection of the clubhouse. of which they were all very proud. It did credit to the site, which, less than 12 months ago, was a barren portion of the foreshore. This was suflicieat reward for the hard work and careful planning of all concerned. Mr. Ernest Davis and others, who had visited similar clubs in many •parts of the world, agreed that it was the best situated yacht club in Hie Southern Hemisphere. In addition to its suitability for starting and finishing of club races, contended Mr. Wilkinson, it had proved to be popular as a centre of the social events of the club, and it was satisfactory to learn from the treasurer that the revenue derived from all sources hail come up to expectations and had enabled the officers to meet all outgoings incurred in extras, interest, general club expenditure ami debentures as they fell due. Since the clubhouse was opened 1111 December S last many visitors from local and overseas clubs had been entertained, and all were charmed with the view from the balconies. Thanks to many friends, the walls were gradually being covered with yachting pictures, pride of place being given to the gift of Mr. T. (i. M. Sopwith of an enlargement of his •America Cup challenger. Endeavour, with the owner's autograph and best wishes to the Tamaki Club 011 it.

Mr. Wilkinson made special reference to the negotiations of the club with the Southern yachting associations, with tiie object of settling all differences in connection with the Sanders Cup and the re-entry of Auckland into the contest. The club's action had been endorsed by (lie Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association, and there was every probability of tiie IIKUJ contest being sailed on the Waitemata. Mr. Wilkinson concluded •by thanking the ladies' committee for their great assistance and for the loyal support given to him by all of the officers and committee.

The report submitted by Mr. Warwick Jackson, honorary treasurer, showed the financial position to be sound. In addition to the clubhouse building fund, the receipts for general purposes totalled £2Mfl, including £40 in subscriptions, £20 entry fees and £15S raised 'by the ladies' committee. The expenditure totalled £129, leaving a credit balance of £110. The clubhouse account showed assets valued at £18tSS, liabilities £997, with a balance of assets of £S7O. The membership last year increased from 190 to oGO. new members bringing the total to nearly 400.

Mr. It. I'rquhart, honorary secretary, reported on the club's raciiiig activities. Six days' racing were held, including opening anil closing day, (tie club's regatta being well patronised, and was held in perfect weather. Events were held on the day for all classes from the Ilerne Bay 12-fo'oter.s to the 22-footers, also naval whalers, Wakatere class and inter-club rowing fours for the Nixon Cup. The annual harbour race for Mr. Ernest .Davis' Cup was carried out by the club, and created a lot of interest, 27 boats competing.

Marshall White; hon. architect, Mr. M. K. Draffin; lion, engineer, Mr. J. MeKinlay; hon. auditors, Messrs. W. K. Webster and W. McLaren; committee, Messrs. S. Greenhoiiigh, G. F. Marshall White, E. P. Wild, C. Marks, S. Nicholas, J. Godfrey, E. T. F. Millett, 11. Innes, N. Williams, G. Farrant, L. Clarke.

The following were elected honorary life members in recognition of, past services to the club:—Captain H. Burgess, Messrs. W. A. Wilkinson, John W. Andrew, Tom Kilfoyle and W. J. Boylan. The recipients were presented with a special badge by the vice-commodore, Mr. Pidgeon, and returned thanks for the honour.

Messrs. R. Urquliart and TV. Jackson were presented with gold-mounted fountain pens in recognition of tlieir services to the club.

OTAHUHTJ SAILING CLUB. THIRTY-'SIXTH ANNUAL -MEETING. The thirty-sixth annual meeting of the Otaliuhu Sailing Club was held on Thursday in the clubhouse, Mr. L. Iteid, commodore presiding. The annual report stated that ten events were Jiekl during the season, the club's regatta being very well patronised. The championship cup was won by Spindrift. The cruising races proved to be popular and would be continued. Prospects for the coming season were good, as several new boats had been bought by club members, and an IS-footer on the lines of Surprise has been built locally for Mr. C!. MeDcll. The balance-sheet submitted by Mr. W. J. Parkinson, honorary treasurer, showed a credit balance for the season of £20 0/8. The following oflicers were elected for the coming season :—President, Mr. Thos. Clements; vice-presidents, as last year; commodore, Mr. L. Iteid; vice-commodore, Mr. H. Gillies; lion, secretary, Jlr. R. Castle; lion, treasurer, Mr. J. McDell; auditor, Mr. G. 11. Searsby; handicapper and starter, Mr. P. C. Allen ; reporter, Mr. L. Reid; clubhouse steward, Jlr. L. Graham; committee, Messrs. A. Walker, B. Maxwell, R. I/aw son, \V. .T. Parkinson, F. Fugle, A. Taylor and J. Ellis. The annual subscription was fixed at .5/, ladies 2/0, juniors 1/0. Sixteen new members were elected.

Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring lion, secretary, Mr. E. O. Moller, for his services during the past seven years, and to Mr. \V. J. Parkinson, who was lion, treasurer for over ten years.
