BIRTHDAY PARTY CELEBRATED

The rooms of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women looked very attractive on Thursday afternoon, when members celebrated the third Jjirthday of the branch since moving into the present rooms. 'There was a large attendance, and the decorations were of vivid pink rhododendrons and camellias, and dark green foliage. Tho party was arranged by the house committee of the branch, under Mrs. Davenport, convenor, assisted by Mesdames 11. Colwill, Grieve, Webster* A. D. Campbell and Miss Baggctt. Miss M. i 5. Carnaehan, president of the branch, spoke of the work of the recent Duncdin conference, and the secretary, Mr> T. Blood worth, spoke of the * Auckland delegation and its impressions of noteworthy women workers from other parts of New Zealand. During the afternoon several delightful songs were rendered by Mrs. Owen, while Miss Joyce Smith's recitations were much enjoyed. Tea was served, and an iced birthday cake was cut by Jliss Carnaehan.
