THE PETS' CORNER.

LONDON ZOO SUCCESS

CHILDREN PLAY WITH ANIMALS

(Special.—By Air Mall.)

LONDON, September 7.

The Pets' Corner introduced at the London Zoo has been an astonishing success and worthy of copy in those wellequipped :>>os to be found in Australia and Kew Zealand. For a small fee children can play with selected young animals and be photographed. Jackie, one of the tea party chimpanzees in the zoo, is a happy, merry fellow. He loves a game with the other young chimpanzees, and he will play more gently with children. He is human, too, in his likes and dislikes. Like many others in higher walks of life, Jackie tires of being j photographed.

Since the Pets' Corner was opened, Jackie and Peter have taken turns in being photographed in company with children in the special studio that has been constructed. Already Jackie has been photographed more than 1000 times. Until the other day he was as good as gold. He has blotted his copybook. On this particular occasion he must have thought that lie was being snapped too many times, for in the middle of proceedings he started protesting vociferously. He complained as only a young chimpanzee can, at the top. of his voice. It was understandable. Perhaps he thought that it was time his colleague Peter came to relieve him, or perhaps he. was not feeling too well. Liverish, maybe. Jackie was at once removed from the studio and put in the tea party cage with his friends. Peter relieved him.
