QUIETER MORNING. MARKETS EASY. Subsequent on a busy last call yesterday, the Stock Exchange was quieter this morning. Fewer sales took place, while the bidding lacked spirit. But little business—one sale in eight—took place in the room. The banking section showed little change. The first sale for some time of Commercial Banks of Sydney was reported at the reduced figure of £17 15/. Interest was shown in National Insurances. Buyers rose from iD/6 to £1, while holders are holding off at 6d more. A buyer for Kauri Timber Company's came forward at £1, in reply to a seller willing to part at £12/. Dominion Brewery "rights" are quoted at 1/3, sellers. The ordinary quotations are 16/ and 17/ for buyers and sellers respectively. The mining section was fairly quiet.
