FELLING OF LONE KAURI.
HORTICULTURISTS' PROTEST. The Auckland District Council of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture decided at its monthly meeting to send a strong letter to the Waitemata County Council protesting at "its unnecessary and precipitate action in cutting down the Lone Kauri at Piha." A report by the secretary, Miss E. F. Kibblewhitc, on the worked-out kauri bush adjacent to the Cascades, which is being lopped, was received. It was decided to confirm the secretary's action and comments, as reported in the "Auckland Star"
