IMMIGRATION PLAN.
"NO DISCUSSION WITH U.K."
STATEMENT BY MR. FORBES. * (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. _ A request that lie should reconcilc his two statements on the immigration question was made to the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, in the House of Representatives this morning by Mr, P. Jones (Labour, Dunedin South), who said that, in replying to a question in the House, Mr. Forbes had said that the question of immigration had not been discussed with the Government in the United Kingdom, and that in a Press interview yesterday he had been reported as saying he had discussed the matter with the Imperial authorities. Mr. Forbes said his reply to the question asked in the House was quite correct. There had been 110 discussions with the Imperial Government on the question of immigration. Mr. Jones: What about the Imperial authorities? Mr. Forbes: There was no discussion with the Imperial authorities. (Labour launrhter.) "But," added Mr. Forbes, "there had been a discussion with some English organisation interested in promoting emigration." °
