AUCKLAND SHOWS.

PROFIT AND LOSS.

A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING REPORTS. Special reference to the society's new show ring and the unfortunate experience it had had with the weather last February at the annual show was made by the president of the Auckland A. and P. Association, Mr. S. Austin Carr, at the annual meeting this afternoon. Mr. Carr said that on the whole the annual balance-sheet was satisfactory. The society had received £1000 from the Winter Show profits and after allowing for a loss of £681 on the last show and also depreciation on buildings, there was a loss for the year of only £83. The stock exhibited at the show was a credit to New Zealand and Auckland Province. The president thanked exhibitors for the spirit that they had displayed in carrying on under wet conditions at the last show. The annual report mentioned that a 40-year lease had been obtained of the showgrounds, and a tender had been let for the construction of a new sunken ring. When completed this ring would be one of the finest show rings, sports, cricket and football grounds in the Dominion. Owing to the wet winter, said Mr. Carr, the area would not bo sown until next year. He stated that out of the £0000 that came from the art union last year £2400 had been set aside to provide an insurance endowment which at the end of the lease would yield £10,000. This would obviate the necessity of providing a sinking fund and allowing for depreciation.

The new ground would not only offer more privileges to the society's patrons, but would also offer more attractive benefits for members. The society, concluded Mr. Carr, was 83 years old and, he trusted, keeping up the traditions of its early founders by catering for the agriculturists of the province by being up-to-date in show schedules and management. Officers Re-elected. Mr. Carr' was re-elected, president unopposed, and Messrs. S. I. Crookes and J. Wyllie were returned vice-presi-dents. The following were elected to the council:—Messrs. C. G. Brookes, H. Frost, S. Hamlin, C. D. Hensen, H. S. W. King, W. C. Knight, W. 0. Lane, W. W. Massev, E. D. McLennan, E. H. Nolan, A. W. Perkins, 0. R. Self, P. H. Smith. R. Wright and Dr. E. H. B. Milsom. The congratulations of the meeting were extended to Mr. John Wyllie, who i .has been a member for 53 years. I
