There were no outstanding price changes I this morning, but ft good volume of busii ness was put through. Values were steady at late rates. There were further transactions in Government stocks, 1955 4 per cents easing to £111 17/(5. 1949's gained 2/6, to £ 109 17/6. Banks, insurances, loan and agency, meat and woollens were inactive, though numerous quotations were put in approximately at yesterday's values. Breweries sold at £2 11/1, the market closing Id on either side. Tooth's were fractionally firmer, with buyers £2 13/10, sellers £2 14/4. Coles improved to : £3 5/, compared with sellers at that price 1 yesterday. New Zealand Newspapers were steady from £2 0/4 to £2 0/10. In the mining section Alexanders (15/ paid) had 1 their fi\t business for a long time at the lower rate of 9/9, closing wide, buyers 0/3, sellers 14/.
