TE AROHA TRACK.

TIN LAP'S SUCCESS. SUPPORTED BY OWNER. In connection with the Avondale meeting the greatest surprise so far as Te Aroha sportsmen were concerned was the victory of Royal Secret in the Flying Handicap. It is well known that the King Lu mare has done less tracli work than any of the local horses. Nevertheless, her gameness carried her through to victory. Her third place on Monday went to show that her Saturday's gallop did not improve her. She arrived home on Tuesday, looking bright and well. An improver in N. J. Prentcr's team is Madalon, the full-sister to Gay Egypt. When she arrived home from Paeroa there was a doubt as to whether she would stand a preparation, but lately she has executed good work and is thriving on it., Mtingacre and Mungatoon arrived buck' from Avondale looking none the worse for their racing. Their efforts there went to show that they needed racing in order to sharpen them up for near at hand racing. They nave not lost many friends by their racing efforts, and both may win in their turn. It cannot be said that Gay Rose raced up to form at Avondale, but better things may be expected from this Gay Shield mare before the season has far advanced. For some time it has been considered that A. E. Cox has Val Watch in the pink of condition, and the opinion was practically borne out by her Avondale victory with 11.7. This Valkyrian mare has the credit of being thoroughly game, and although she still has some of her Mightiness, never shows the least inclination to shirk her tasks. The news relating to the very remunerative dividend paid out over the victory of Tin Lap came as a thorough surprisfc to local sports, who assessed her chance highly. Her owner, Mr. J. Whitten, of re Aroha journeyed to Avondale, and benefited by the liberal totalisator price, ns , • .^ Vils satisfied with the mare's forward condition. '? x Sweeney's T..tgoon has been hoiking freely during the week, and is , n? h 'f ce ? 'i 1 faeroa. She may not be 1 at her best, but races well when fresh. Miss Mestor, the full-sister to King Mcstor, promises to be a smart two-year-old by the time summer arrives. She is a very smooth mover, and, having no lumber to carry, may came to hand quickly Racing resultß have shown that King Lu fillies and mares have been very successful 011 the turf, the percentage of winners being high. It is not intended to in any way hurry King Spear in his preparation, a s he is still developing. The Spear Dance gelding is to be given light jumping exercise, it being considered by his owner that in due course he may be a hurdler.
