VOLUNTEER FIRE POLICE.
SOCIAL AND DANCE HELD.
A very enjoyable social and dance was held in the Central Fire Station social room in Pitt Street. A varied programme was presented, including recitations by Miss Archibald, humorous items by Miss Smithson and Mr. Smithson, and songs by Mr. J. Campbell, Mr. Bradford, Mr. Howard Anderson, Mr. S. Beecham,. Mr. D. Wrathal, Mr. Hill, Mr. Richards and Mr. Parker. Mr. W. Purcell played the accompaniments, and also provided the music for the dancing. Among the guests were the superintendent of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Mr. W. L. Wilson, the ex-captain of the Old Salvage Corps, Mr. W. Field, and representatives of the various tire brigades and the Auckland Fire Board.
The committee responsible for the evening's arrangements comprised: Messrs. R. H. Hunt, R. J. Wilkish, G. Hedland, A. J. Brooks, F. Hall, J. Taylor, F. Hatley, J. Hedland, C. King, E. Archer, A. H. Smith. The guests were received by the captain, Mr. Harry Jane.
Among the guests were: Mrs. W. L. Wilson, who wore black ring velvet; Mrs. R. Bradford, willow green lace; Mrs. J. Porter, lobelia blue crepe; Mrs. H. Washington Smith, blue floral crepe; Mrs. M. Mann, jubilee blue satin; Mrs. C. Kean, black patterned georgette; Mrs. W. Carr, hyacinth blue georgette; Mrs. E. A. Austin, heather brown marocain; Mrs. V. Archibald, leaf green suede; Mrs. H. Halstead, delphinium blue faille; Mrs. A. Muir, phlox pink suede; Mrs. F. Hatley, black souple satin; Mrs. C. Sadgrove, oiel blue satin; Mrs. G. Hedland, leaf green georgette; Mrs. H. Eustace, patterned marocain; Mrs. A. Beesley, black crepe romaine; Mrs. W. Macky, midnight blue georgette and lace; Mrs. L. Chapman, daffodil floral georgette; Mrs. L. A. Rogerson, royal blue marocain; Mrs. R. Wiginore, cherry crepe; Mrs. M. Wallace, rose and blue patterned georgette; Mrs. G. E. Davison, floral romaine? Mrs. J. Taylor, leaf brown marocain.
-Miss Mnrgot Newton wore mulberry ring velvet; Miss G. Calder, black crcquclle; Miss Thelina Hart, lobelia blue corded crepe; Mies Joan Wilson, cameo pink crepe suede; Miss A. Kelly, japoniea pink organdie; Miss S. Hunt, pastel pink satin; Miss Elva Hunt, vieux rose marocain; Mifts E. Rillstonc, ivory pebble crepe; Miss I. Jack, midnight blue georgette; Miss N. Mullins, jade green satin; Miss P. Archibald, ivory lace; Miss Ethel Parkinson, flame crepe; Miss M. Kcan, black marocain; Miss N. HefTord, jubilee blue ring velvet; and Miss H. ilefford, shell pink satin.
