Instead of separate annual functions as hitherto, the spinsters and bachelors of the Birkenhead and Northeote districts held a united ball last night in the Kind's Theatre at Northeote, the donated to the Northeote Welfare League. The hostess was Mrs. G. H. Edwards, in a frock of black lace. The lady organisers were Miss Cherry Butterworth, wearing brick red ciepc and lame coatee; Miss /Coe Mentzer, black georgette; Miss Mavis Butterworth, amber angel skin lace; Miss Sybil Mentzer. angel skin crepe, with biue and pink frills; Miss Alice Isbister. pink georgette; Miss Ida Bregman, green ninou. Members of the Northeote Welfare League who assisted and served the supper were: Mrs. A. J. Beck (president), wearing navy crepe de chine; Mrs. J. G. Lockie (secretary), embossed georgette; Mrs. T. Howlawl, floral marocainf Mrs. N. S. Davidson, green angel skin lace; Mrs. W. J. Moreland, blue velvet; Mrs. E. Crawshavv. pebble crepe; Mrs. I. Morrison, electric blue angel skin lace; Mrs. G. Dunn, brown satin; Mrs. H. Couldrey, black velvet; Mrs. D. Blair, red georgette; Mrs. G. Lytollis, navy crepe de chine; Mrs. E. C. Horsman, blue marocain; Miss Joyce Howland, pink marocain. The mistresses of ceremonies were Misses Cherry Butterworth and Zoe Mentzer. The music was played by the Vagabonds' Orchestra. The prizes were presented to the winners of the wedding bell dance, and the Monte Carlo and spot dances by the Mayoress of Northeote. Mrs. R. Martin. Exhibition danccs of the tango and quick-step were given by Miss Avis Hedgeman and Mr. E. Prendergast, of Auckland, and of the tap dance by Mr. Stan Rackett.
