LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

AUSTRALIANS GO SOUTH. MATCH WITH WELLINGTON. The Australian Rugby League team, after a visit to Helensville on Sunday and light training at C'arlaw Park yesterday morning, left yesterday afternoon for Wellington, where they will meet a combined team at the Stadium to-morrow. The New Zealand side will be representative of Wellington, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay and Canterbury. In this team will be H. T. Lilburne, who will play his first Rugby League game against an overseas side. The visiting players and officials make no secret of the fact that the standard of play, as - demonstrated on Saturday in the* match against Auckland, is to be respected. 'Tney also recognise that New Zealand is capable of placing strong teams in the field for the three Tests, which will involve the rubber and first honour of winning the Courtney Goodwill Clip. Three members of the New Zealand team, the West Coast, forwards, Caldor, Glynn and Anderson; have been training in Auckland since last Wednesday. The team is being coached by Mr. T. A. McClymont, who is also a selector. Mr. W. O. C'arlaw, another member of the selection committee and secretary of the New Zealand Council, accompanied the Australians to Wellington. Mv. W. J. Taylor, the South Auckland delegate on the council, will manage the New Zealand teams for the Tests, the second of which will take place to-morrow (Wednesday) week. SCHOOLS' EXECUTIVE. At the meeting of the primary schools' committee last evening, Mr. Stanley presiding, reference was made to the Auckland team, first winners of the Golden Bloom Banner from the Northland school boy representatives. It was decided to congratulate the team's coach, Lou Brown, on the good performance of the side. Brown's English jersey for the best player in the match went to 11. Bradley, a Kiclimond player. A welcome was extended to ilr. A. Mayes, a new delegate representing the Green Lane Club. REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. At the meeting of the Referees' Association last evening, Mr. A. Chapman presiding, satisfaction was expressed at the fact that the senior board had ruled that junior board members held official authority at all grounds outside Carlaw Park. • The chairman said this meant that referees would have full co-operation in emergency.
