TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this d*y. Activity in Mount Lyells was the main feature on call. Markets generally were quiet. The only banking business was a late reported sale of National at £3 12/. To-day's quotations were buyers £3 10/, sellers £3 13/. Reserves had unsupported sellers at £6 10/. Wales were quoted from £32 to £32 10/. Commercials were fractionally firmer from 16/0 to 16/7. In insurances quotations were all sellers with the exception of South British, buyers £4 13/, sellers £4 13/9. Loan and Agency issues were again quiet and easy. Goldsbrough buyers were down to £1 10/, sellers £1 10/11. Dalgety's were wanted at £8, and no sellers. Australian Glass were quoted from £4 to £4 3/. Tobaccos were again easy from £1 18/10 to £1 19/2. Diinlops recovered to 14/4, sale and sellers. New Zealand Newspapers were firm from £2 0/2 to £2 0/9. Mining was very quiet. Lyells had most business at 18/9, closing from 18/8 to 18/9. Emperors, after reported dealings at £1 9/4, were easier from £1 8/1 to £1 8/10.
