PAYMENTS FOR BUTTERFAT.

HAMILTON, this day.

Reflecting the improved position of the British butter market, the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company will make an advance payment this month on August supply of lid per lb for fineet quality butterfat for butter-making, compared with 9d per lb last September and 9id per lb last month. This figure is free of share credits. Suppliers of first grade butterfat for chceso manufacture will receive lid per lb, as compared with 9Jd per lb last September and a similar amount last month.

PROTEST MEETING.

TOWN CUBRK'S DISMISSAI*

Another meeting of residents of the Mount Eden Borough will be held this evening in the Centenary Hall, Dominion Road, to protest against the dismissal of Mr. H. Gribble from the position of town clerk of the borough. The speakers will be Meesrs. L. S. Rickerby, S. E. Chappell, W. J. Gatenby, W. H. Nagle and J. J. Mulvihill. Messrs. Gatenby and Chappell are members of the present council.

To-morrow evening a deputation headed by Mr. Kenneth Melvin will convey to the council the resolution, which was unanimously passed at a protest meeting on Wednesday week last calling upon the council to reinstate Mr. Gribble in his position, and, failing this, asking for the resignation of the Mayor and the councillors who voted for his dismissal.
