ROWING.
WEST END CLUB. CAPTAIN'S SERVICES APPRECIATED. A nice compliment has been paid Mr. D G S-tottcr, captain of the West End Rowing Club for the last two years, by the committee in naming one or the club s eight-oar boats after him. At a meeting of the executive on Friday eulogistic references were made by the members to the fine work Mr. Stotter has done for the club during his term of office, special reference being made to the jubilee year celebrations. In recognition of his service it was decided to name one of the eights the D.G.S. The club possesses three eights, one the girt of Mr J Carrigan of Melbourne, and named after him, and the other two boats were unnamed. It was felt this was a fitting opportunity to name one of the other two boats. Mr. Stotter suitably replied in expressing thanks for the honour conferred on him.
