PERILOUS PASTIME.
BARROW-PUSHER'S ILL-LUCK. LONDON, September 9. The pushing of barrows is apparently more dangerous in Britain than in Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Joseph Dawson, aged 75, has begun a third attempt to push a barrow 240 miles to Blackpool, for a wager of £50. On the first attempt Mr. Dawson was mistaken for an escaped prisoner and was detained. On the second effort he was averaging 40 miles a day when a motor car knocked him over a fence and wrecked the barrow.
