DEMAND FOR SKILLED WORKERS.
Some nights ago now I read in your paper that there is a big demand for experienced men in various trades, the list including electricians. According to the statement this view was expressed by business firms in Auckland. I would like to know who these gentlemen are. I am an experienced electrician and have excellent references as to mv ability and character and have called on several leading firms in the city for the last year and been told there i<3 nothing doing yet." Tinners, were quiet. I have made application for numerous positions advertised in your paper, and in every case I enclosed a stamped, addressed envelope for reply and only one—yes. only one —had the decency to acknowledge my application, and that was only after I complained to the "Star" office, who evidently wrote to this party, and I received the reply, a typed letter, no name, no address, only thanking me for my application. If you know of these gentlemen and they require an electrician, please give me the names, when I will soon call on them. 8.8.
