The plan to extend Upper Queen Street to provide a better outlet for traffic using the route has been advanced by the decision of the works committee of the City Council to accept a tender for the removal of eight cottages in the locality, to enable street widening to be carried out. The council's scheme involves the removal of a cottage in Newton Road, two cottages in Gloucester Street, two in Randolph Street, and three in Karaka Street. The successful tenderer for the carrying out of this work is Mr. P.
