Hunt, S.M., in "the Police Court to-day, charged with stealii)™ , , on separate dates, two frocks and three pairs of stockings valued at £,■) 12/y and an evening frock and pair of gloves, valued at £10, the property of Marian Doff. Accused 'pleaded guilty to the second charge, but denied the first. 'After they left their flat, accused took an evening frock and pair of gloves and wore them to a dance in the Trades Hall. Although she admitted that she took th,e other two frocks and pair of stockings and sold them for a total price of 10/0 to a. gir! friend, she later denied this statement. When interviewed by Detective Whitehead ehe denied all knowledge of four diamonds which were missing. Senior Detective Hall said the girl's parents were both dead. Since coming to Auckland she had been associating with the criminal class and keeping; company with a married man who was living apart from his wife. After hearing a report furnished by the probation officer, the magistrate convicted and-ordered the girl to come up for sentence if called upon in twelve months., a condition being that she shall remain in the Waikowhai Home during that period.
