SOCIAL- CREDIT PLANS.
NEW ALBERTA GOVERNMENT. EDMONTON, September 8. Social credit legislation is to be presented in the Alberta Legislature in the session opening in January or February, announced the newly-elected Premier of Alberta, Mr. William Aberhart. He reiterated that it would be 15 to 18 months before the first dividend was paid. The terms of the legislation would depend largely upon the recommendations made by Major Douglas, who was expected at Edmonton in two or three weeks in the capacity of financial adviser to the Alberta Government. Mr. Aberhart i 3 proceeding to Ottawa to confer with the Prime Minister, Mr. Bennett, in regard to his application for a loan of 18,000,000 dollars to cover obligations falling due. Also he will visit Montreal and Toronto in an effort to enlist the co-operation of the banks in designating the Alberta branches as clearing houses for dividend cheques. If he fails, he will establish his own clearing houses.
