«NEED HARD WORK." MANAGER LIMPS OX FIELD. , 5 LQNDOX, September 8. The manager of the All • Blacks team, Mr. V. R. Meredith, is satisfied with the condition 'of the players, but considers they will need hard work before they reach the top of their form. Critics say; no team has trained so strenuously. . A ; heavy programme of hospitality has not been allowed to interfere witli the-training at Paignton. Many invitations have been declined. Mr. Meredith has strained the muscles of one leg and limps while on the field coaching the team. Mr. Meredith presented the town of Newton Abbot with a carved Maori jewel Casket,- in recognition of hospitality to three New Zealand teams (1900, 1924 and 1935). The All: Blacks' first match is set down for next Saturday against Devon and Cornwall at JDevonport. The dates of the Tests- are: — November 23—v. Scotland. December 7—v. Ireland. December .21—v. Wales (at Cardiff). January 4—v. England.
