CAMPING GROUND.

WESTERN SPRINGS FACILITIES

Further improvements are being made at the Auckland municipal motor camping ground at Western Springs, which proved very popular during the laet Christmas and New Year holidays, when there was an average of about 100 cars, representing upwards of 400 people, every night. A large swimming pool for adults, a paddling pool and sand bin for children and a level playing field are now bring completed. The swimming pool, constructed of blue rock and concrete, is 80ft long by 40ft wide, with a depth varying from 3ft Oin to 6ft, and will be supplied with a continuous stream of water through a 6in pipe from the Western Springs, which discharges about two million gallons daily. A 2in pipe from the same source will feed the children's pool, which is 50ft long by 20ft wide and lft deep. The water for both will be purified before going into the pools. The playing field, when completed, will have a level surface 200 ft long by 120 ft wide. The belt of pine and Australian gum trees and the chimps of trees placed about the grounds are growing rapidly, and should soon supply all the shelter needed.
