LYNNDALE AMATEURS. Last Saturday the Lynndale Club held a junior 13%-mile race and an 18-mile senior iace. Tlie senior race was the second race for the Willis Cup, this .cup being won by Xorm. Helliwell, with a second in each race. The weather was excellent for racing and some very good times were put up in the senior event. E. Hughes was onlv 47s outside Colin. Gooders record. Keith Walker (6.30) was having his fifth ride and has shown steady improvement each week and every° ne was very pleased when he was the first junior over the white line. Leslie Ha»yke (11:30) was second, after having a spill half a. mile from the finishing line. Leslie is tlie youngest rider in the club and Iβ very Brian Carbury (scr) was third and fastest junior, after beating Gordon Helli\ppll in a very close finish. . George Cochrane (7.30), first senior, hart to pido the best part of the 18 miles on his "own and on the last lap lie actually pained on the bunch of three riders behina hjni This was George's first senior win, his last win being at Takapuna on June 8, when he won the junior race. Norm. Helliwell (2.45) was second and he rode his best race for some Saturdays, winning the Willis Cup with two seconds, a total' of 10 points, the next being Laurie Roberts and George Cochrane, with I P °On Saturday 23 Lynndale members will be taking part in the very popular harbour race to be conducted by the centre. All club members are reminded that tney fhould have their new .red.-and.- white numbers fixed on the centre of their shorts, with half an inch of the white number overlapping the band of their Sh On tß the following Saturday September 14 the club will conduct their annual harbour race, when the youngest ridfir L Hawke, will take his departure for the 40 0 miles at 1.30 p.m. from the Esplanade Hotel Devonport, the race finishing at Folks Street, New Lynn.
