STABLE AND TRACK NOTES

HIS FIRST SUCCESS. Ngatirahiri, who won the Opunake Scurry at New Plymouth on Saturday, is a four-year-old gelding by Potba from Amyrin, and ie owned by R. Johnson, the New Plymouth trainer. Ngatirahiri is a half-brother to Bathos, Grotesque, Melissa, Perception and Ainyril, and this was his first success. MAY GO TO SYDNEY. It is probable that Notium, by Lysander from Makepeace, who is trained by J. Brown at Hawera, will probably be sent to Australia. He was purchased at the last Trentham yearling salee by two Eltham sportsmen, Messrs. E. L. Abbott and H. B. Gibson, for 2Cogs, and is stated to be a very promising sort. IN WORK AGAIN.

I! The latest addition to the active brigade '' at Ellerelie is the three-year-old filly ■ Eudorace, by The Ace from Duchess • Eudorus. She was raced several times last; season without success and the experience \ I will be useful to her later on. Eudorace is a half-sister to ltoyal Tea ana Deputy Ruler, and, like her relatives, is not lack-, ing in quality. I FROM A GOOD FAMILY. I A newcomer to the tracks at Ellerslie : is a three-year-old chestnut filly by Speardance from Jolle Fille, owned by her | breeder, J. D. Kemp. This novice conies ( (from a proved racing family, being a half-! • ■ sister to Maveelish, Jolly Gay and Johc ■ Money. She is very "green" at present •; and it will be a few months before she is ,j ready to race. J NOVICES SHOW ABILITY. j Waikatoa and Parabola, a couple of ' novice jumpers in E. C. Rae's stable, have been given a few lessons over hurdles recently and their displays have been quite satisfactory for beginners. Neither of them ha*? had any racing experience, but they have >nproved a good deal in condi-tion-since coming to Ellerslie. and will be, seen out in jumping events later on. IN HACK EVENTS. Solaria, who is reported to be doing well in his preparation at Hastings, figures in a couple of .hack events at Avondale When raced at the Great Northern meeting last June this hack was very much in the "boom," but failed to win a race and • ! proved costly to his supporters. There is 1 no doubt regarding Solaria's speed, but the ! public will not be so kesn to support him the next time he goes to the post. ENGAGED AT AVONDALE. Alchemic, who opened his three-year-old career by winning the Waverley Handicap | at New Plymouth last Thursday, is by Lackham from Bechou, by Royal Divorce, j He won a two-year-old race last season and was in the money on four other occasions. He is included in the field td contest the Avondale Guineas and will probably fulfil that engagement, as he has been ' entered for other events at the meeting. GOING ON SATISFACTORILY. Imamint has not been overtaxed since '; < she raced at the Pakuranga meeting,' ■ though she is doing everything asked of ' her in a satisfactory manner. Her foreleg, : 1 which has been very much enlarged for ' several mouths, has fined down noticeably under treatment during the last couple of I weeks. This mare will be seen out at the ; Avondale meeting, where she has been entered for the principal event each day. GOING TO FIJI. The apprentice rider 0. Nicholas, who is attached to J. Cruse's stable at Takanim, is leaving for Fiji in a couple of weeks' I time. On arrival there he will join up with Mr. D. B. Costello, of Suva, who recently purchased several horses in New Zealand with the view of racing them in Fiji. Nicholas rode 'Trishna when that horse won the Easter Handicap at Feilding last April and he should do well in the Islands. TEAM FOR WANGANUI. A. Cook, the Te Awamutu trainer, will ' take four horses to Wanganui, and is due to leave for the south next Monday. The team will comprise Flit Acre, Callisto, Gallio and Galilee. Galilee will be making her first appearance as a three-year-old, but unfortunately is not in the Wanganui Guineas. However, sire 19 engaged in both sprint events and, as she will be meeting several of her own age in those races, the running should afford a reliable guide con- ' cerning her future "classic" engagements. .
