MOTOR DEATH.
British Peer May be Tried by Peers. RARE OCCASIONS. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 28. Tho rare trial of a peer by peers is expected to follow the committal for trial of Lord <le Clifford by a Kingston magistrate on a charge of manslaughter. Lord de Clifford was driving a ear which came into collision with a car driven by Douglas Hopkins, who was killed. A trial by peers will be avoided if the Director of Public Prosecutions reduces the charge. It is recalled that the last trial of a peer was in 1901 when the late Karl Russell was tried in the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords before 200 peers and 10 judges. He was found guilty of bigamy and served three months in prison but later received a free pardon. Tho previous trial was in 1841.
