LAWN TENNIS.
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. SUBSIDISED TRIPS ABROAD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held last night. Professor F. P. Wilson was elected president for the ensuing year. It was decided to abolish the intermediate championships in the New Zealand tournament and re-establish the New Zealand Plate. A motion to fix the New Zealand championship dates to commence on Boxing Day in each year was lost. Each association is now free to specify the dates it considers the most suitable for success when making an application to hold the New Zealand tournament. It was stated an application would be made from individual leading players contemplating visiting Australia for tennis tournaments for a subsidy from the New Zealand Association. The question of sending a team of subsidised players will be considered by the management committee.
