DUNK ISLAND.
Within a few months Dunk Island, on the Queensland coast between Cairns and Townsville, will be ready for tourists under a scheme which the Hon. Hugo Brassey is completing in London. The manager of the resort, M. Frederic Trenthardt, has been in Brisbane arranging matters, and has given instructions with regard to the erection of suitable buildings on the island for the accommodation of ' ;urists. The system of housing is said to be something entirely new, and it is expected that the resort will be opened some time in October, when Mr. Brassey will have arrived with a large yacht. At the same time there will be a fleet of smaller vessels at the island, and every facility will be afforded for fishing and for visiting the famous Great Barrier Reef. Overseas shipping firms have received the scheme with enthusiasm, and fishing tackle makers are also co-operating by supplying technical advice. It is expected that many overseas tiiirists will be attracted to the resort of Dunk Island, which will offer some of the finest fishing in the world, as well as being set in r scene n/ tropical splendour and conveniently situated for those who desire to examine the wonderful marine ilfe of the Great Barrier Reef.
