WAITAKI OLD BOYS.
SCHOOL ENDOWMENT FUND.
TRUSTEES APPOINTED. A gratifying increase in membership of the Waitaki Old Boys' Association, reflecting growing interest in its activities, was reported by the executive council at a meeting held in Oamaru on August 14. Mr. R. S. Glendinbig presided. It was reported that one branch began the year with an Increase of 00 members. The endowment insurance campaign was meeting with a fine response, the eum of £9725 having been taken up on the first canvass of the South Island. It appeared that the first goal, £20,000, would be more than attained. Donations to the fund amounted to £90 11/6. The following old boys were trustees of the fund: Messrs. R. H. Hill, R. K. Ireland, R. L. lionaldeon, L. M. Ingles and M. S. Myers, with Mr. C. C. Holland as secretary
The council congratulated etudente of the school who gained University scholarships, and also Sergeant-Major Cockrell on promotion to lieutenant on the New Zealand Staff Corps. It was largely due to his work that the school shooting team had won the Islington Cup and Victory Shield. Founders' day, inaugurated last year, is to be held this year in mid-October at the echool. The annual meeting is on August 29.
