INTER-ISLAND LEAGUE.

SOUTHS ARRIVE TO-MORROW.

CONFIDENCE OF ■ VISITORS. The South Island Rugby League teani which is to meet the North Island ill the annual match for the Courtney Silver football trophy will arrive in Auckland to-morrow morning by the 9.30 express from Wellington and will be quartered at the Metropolitan Hotel. Although Northern eupporters will rest confidence in the all-round experience of the North Island side, captained by A. E. Cooke, who will be seen as centre threequarter, the visiting combination is coming to Auckland after very careful selection and preparation backed by the greatest confidence of the South Island public. The average weight of the backs is 11.10. Their average age is 23% years, though excepting the captain, J. E. A. Amos, who is 28, the rearguard averages 21% years. Their average height is sft Bin. The average weight of the forwards, who average sft 9in in height (three beinjj sixfooters), is 14.6. The average age ot the pack is nearly 27, Calder being the oldest member of the side and 29 years of age. It appears that the Southerners have everything in their favour and if they have the speed and tactical knowledge will be hard to beat.

Selector and coach A. T. McClymont had the majority of the North Island side together last evening and reports that after the final workout to-morrow the team should be in perfect condition and capable of a good understanding in action on Saturday.

The A and B trial thirteens for the curtain-raiser are also in keen training.

JUNIOR MANAGEMENT. PAPAKURA'S SENIOR B KNOCKOUT. At the meeting of the junior management committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, Mr. D. Wilkie presiding, it was pointed out that Papakura had won the senior B grade knockout competition with 51 points for and 8 against, with Otahuhu (84 —22) two grade pointe less second. Point Chevalier, Green Lane and Waiuku followed. The committee congratulated Papakura on its success. The chairman mentioned that the senior B teams were incorporated with the senior reserve teams for the Stallard Cup knockout competition. Attention was drawn to the fact that on Saturday in the Roope Rooster preliminary series of matches Otahuhu had played two Point Chevalier players and iad thereby seriously prejudiced the Point Chevalier Club in its grade fixture. Otahuhu was to be advised that the players could not be retained without transfer. Arising from the senior B match between Green Lane and Point Chevalier, the former club entered a protest against short time being played when it had a chance to score. A club official said he thought the referee made an honest mistake owing to difficulty with his watch. The protest was referred to the Referees' Association for report. The Mount Albert Club apologised for playing three men out of order in its fifth grade match with Papakura. The match was awarded to Papakura.

Formalities were arranged in connection with the entry of the Mangere Club into the second grade from senior B statue.
