(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
PALMERSTON NORTH, this day,
A sharemilker, Manley Symes (22), of Pahiatua, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged that at Te Matai on July 24, he assaulted his wife so as to cause actual bodily harm.
In applying for a remand the police opposed bail, stating that Mrs. Symes was still in hospital and had not yet been certified as out of danger. After hearing a plea by counsel for accused, the Bench decided to grant bail of £250 in two sureties of £125 each, a condition being that accused should report daily to the police and that he should not visit the hospital except at his wife's request, and then only in the company of hie solicitor.
