"FRIENDLY ROAD."
PROGRESS IN SYDNEY. The foundation of u permanent "Friendly Road" organisation in Sydney is anticipated as a result of a public meeting to be held in the Sydney Town Hall on Sunday evening. The three months' visit of the Kev. C. G. Scrimgeour has concluded, and the public meeting is being arranged as a finale. Seats were allocated on the donation system, i.e., those who sent in a donation of whatsoever amount could have so many seats as they desired. The booking plan was opened last Monday week, a fortnight before the proposed meeting, and already the accommodation has been completely booked out.
Applications were received from all over the country, the highest price paifl for seats being £10 for four seats. The most distant application came from Blaney, about 400 miles from Sydney, and the people enclosed a small nugget of gold, which they wished to donate. Mr. Scrimgeour is due to arrive back in New Zealand on August 24, and tenlative arrangements have been made to broadcast the service that evening from the Town Hall.
