RICCARTON TRIALS.

THIS MORNING'S W.ORK. SOME GOOD SCHOOLING EFFORTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Conditions were pleasant for track work at Riccarton this morning. A sharp frost delayed the start of training operations, but the sun put in an appearance, thawing the ground and the outside of the course proper provided good going, though not fast. There were some useful gallops, though little of exceptional note. Schooling on the course proper added to the interest.

Tirau and Southdown were on terms at the end of seven furlongs in 1.31, after the former had led for most of the way. Orris ran seven furlongs, taking 52s for the last half-mile. Isaacs and Korero covered six furlongs in 1.20 and Concert Pitch and Culotte ran home from the half-mile post in 49 3-ss—a smart effort. Travenna and Sunee covered six furlongs attractively in 1.17 1-5. Miracle and Bereft sprinted half a mile in 51s, Control taking 51 l-ss. Land Raid and Fiord went well while running seven furlongs in 1.31 2-5. Mercian Prince beat Gay Crest and Invoice over half a mile along the back in 51s. Jolly Beprgar had Friday Night as a mate over seven furlonejs in 1.33 3-5. Wino occupied 1.33 2-5 for a similar distance. He started off 6lowly and had Golden Dart with him over the last half-mile, which was covered in 52 l-ss. Polydora and Lycidas traversed a mile in 1.47 4-5. Horowhenua did strong pace work on the sand. Tout le Monde and Cleaner took 1.33 3-5 for seven furlongs, Dollar Prince and Girl Guide, who were not hurried, occupying 1.36 3-5. Trumpet Blast ran half a mile in 50 3-ss.

Golden Hair's Effort. Golden Hair and Joyous ran six furlongs, the former drawing out in the straight to win by several lengths in 1.17—a useful gallop. Cottesmore went half a mile along the back in 52 2-ss. finishing a mile in 1.47. Monipere covered seven furlongs in 1.33 and Superex and Pink Abbey five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. Maroha and Botokino took 52s for half a mile. Sea Fox ran six furlongs in 1.23 and was going very easily. Rebel Chief, going comfortably at the end, was two lengths in front of Silver Sight over seven furlongs in 1.33. Billy Boy led Valpeen and Royal Limond over a mile and a quarter, the last mile taking 1.53 1-5. Grand Review beat Lucetta over seven furlongs in 1.35 2-5. Colombo and Sisterina took 1.23 for six furlongs, the former being in front. Argentic and Glowlight were matched over a mile. They ran the first half in 50 2-5s and the full journey in 1.43 3-5. It wae a good effort. Glenavon and Polygraph covered half a mile in 52 4-ss. Valarth and High Glee took 1.20 for six furlongs. Prince Val strode over seven furlongs in 1.37. There was not much between Arrow Glen, Star Raider and Hunting Jay over five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. Knockfin worked on the No. 7 grass track, doing the last five of six furlongs in 1.4. A number of other horses got through ueeful tasks, but were not timed. The Jumpers. The jumpers Verden and Red Sun went at a solid pace in a school over six hurdles, in which they rapped one or two flights.

Revision was in front of Coll at the finish of a run over four hurdles after Coll had set the early pace.

Aberfeldy, Make Up and Pahu were associated in a school over the fences on the course. Aberfeldy led over the sodwall, but the other two joined him at the post and rails, Aberfeldy being eome distance in the rear when he lost his rider at the carriage paddock brush. Make Up made a better jump than Pahu over Cutts', his display being attractive. Pahu got through his task satisfactorily. Parasang jumped once round the fences in the middle of the course, giving a fair display. Dunmure, Punchestown, Free Air, Monastic and Bandy Boa set out for a school once round over fences on the course. They got over the eodwall and the post and rails safely, but Bandy Boa fell at the first of the Kennels double, where Monastic refused. Dunmure then went on in front. Punchestown joined him in the run down the straight, and they cleared Cutts' fence together, both having jumped well. Free Air was some distance back jumping safely, though apparently sore. Drinkwater persevered with Monastic for a' long time at the double, but without success. Joppa led Star Raider in a school over four hardies. The Winter Cup candidate Lapel was the only arrival from the north this morning.
