Mr. J. Johnstone imports into my letter two nonsensical propositions which, of coU '' se, I neither stated nor implied, viz.: (1) That the creation of credits by banks is the same thing as the loan of deposits; (2) that 1 assume that loans or advances by the Stat* need not be repayable. -He then proceeds t« demolish these extraordinary propositions.
