THE MINISTERIAL VISIT.
A PRODUCER'S VIEWS.
(To the Editor.)
You accuse Sir Alexander Herdmao of making a cheap jibe at the expense of Messrs. Forbes and Coates for their peregrinations to England. Mr. Forbes presumably had to go to attend the jubilee celebrations. Mr. Coatee , visit was caused solely by the necessity of explaining our repudiation of the Ottawa agreement, and in an endeavour to prevent onr exclusion from the English market in' the future. To a tax-ridden country eudh as this, with its complete dependence on the English market, it is not a matter of no consequence that such visits should require to Ibe made. Mr. Ooates has already cabled ue that he has achieved wonderful results, and he may repeat his statements to the electorate "until the cows come home." But unless ihe or the future rulers of this country alter our tactics and carry out the suggestion of Sir Alexander Herdman to put ourselves right with the Old Country we shall soon be in the plight of havinc to eat our own butter, lamb, etc. PRODUCER
