ETHIOPIA'S EX-RULER.
MODERN MAN IN "IRON MASK. ,,
UTS DEATH REPORTED,
PARIS, June
The newspaper "Paris-Soir," in a right article, reported to-day the death of the dethroned Emperor of Ethiopia, Lij Yasu, in a lonely mountain-top prison in the Province of Harrar.
The article, describing the former Emperor's life as that of a "modern man in an iron mask," eaid that he died six months ago, but that his death had been kept secret by the Government.
Yasu was the grandson of Emperor Menelik 11. ,who defeated Italian troops in the battle of Adowa in 1896. He was deposed in 1910 as the result of a tribal rebellion, and his aunt, Zauditu, became Empress.
The "Paris-Soir" asserts he wa3 placed in a cage 00ft square after hie capture in 1917. He was permitted, to communicate with his guards by means of a drawbridge, but had no other coibpany.
