"FRUIT" PAINTING COMPETITION JUDGED
GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED. Budgetland has been looking very bright the past week with the beautiful paintings of fruit that have come into this office. This recent competition proved as popular as painting contests usually do and the work was of the usual high standard, but, strangely enough, this time there were far more entries for section A, for children under 12, than for section B, which was for the older boys and girls. In section A Ray Mullen, who coloured his picture with pastels, and Bobby Leese, whose work was in oils, deserve special commendation for the warmth and brightness of their work. Peggy Ruane and Alcwyn Crossman, too, submitted their usual neat and carefully shaded work. There were new and old names amongst the prize winners of section B. Gloria Marslack's work was certainly the best submitted, with that of Alma Hutchins a close second. Roy Wilson and Nancye Lenny also submitted work of a very high standard.
