The speediest animal is probably the whippet, which can travel at more than 40 miles an hour. The fastest human runner does a little more than 20 miles an hour in a sprint race, and the racehorse can manage between 30 and 40 miles, though a-f ew horses have been known to accomplish even faster speeds.
