WRESTLING.

ROTORUA KEBELS. THREAT OF DISQUALIFICATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA. this day. In view of recent developments in regard to control of wrestling in the Dominion, a decision reached by the Kotorua Wrestling Association this week will be of interest. The association has staged only one bout this season, and when it endeavoured to secure another match from the New Zealand Wrestling Union was told that no wrestlers were available. As a result the association has decided to risk disaffiliation by the union, and has arranged a match between George Walker and Ole Andreson for August 17.

Walker has refused to wrestle under the union this season, and Andreson is one of the recently arrived overseas wrestlers who have stood aloof from the controlling body. The president of the Rotorua Association, Mr. E. G. Guy, in a statement said the position appeared to be that with only four wrestlers under its control at the present time, Hopkins, McCready, Wade and Blomfield. the union was unable to fulfil its obligations to affiliated associations by providing them with matches. The Rotorua Association had been'threatened with disaffiliation by the New Zealand Union if it matched wrestlers outside its control, but if the union was unable to carry out its obligations there was no objection remaining. The affiliated-association had obtained the necessary police permit for the bout, and although the New Zealand Union had threatened to have this cancelled, he did not consider that it could do this, in view of the fact that the Rotorua Association had complied with the necessary qualifications under the police regulations. He pointed out also that in spite of its threat to Rotorna, the New Zealand Union had recently matched Andreson in Dunedin against Hopkins.
