SPRING PROGRAMME. INCREASE IN STAKES. The programme for the spring meeting of the Auckland Racing Club was passed by the committee yesterday afternoon, the alterations, compared with last year, being an increase from £200 to £250 in each hack race and the hunters' steeplechase; and from £600 to £700 for the Great Northern Guineas, the latter having been arranged previously. The distance of the Gordon Handicap, first day, was made six furlongs instead of a mile. AH hack race conditions are to comply with the qualifications set out in the Rules of Racing as amended at the last conference. The major events at the summer meeting were left at the same as last season. The Auckland Cup is worth £1500, including a gold cup valued at £50. Dr. Slilsom and Messrs. M. M. McOallum, Claud Motion, L. C. Rathbone, W. H. Lunn and G. A. Wynyard were appointed stewards to act with Messrs. M. J. Lynch, E. H. Nolan and B. L. Hewitt, elected by the members. Last season's officials were reappointed as follows: Handieapper, Mr. F. J. McManemin; starter, Mr. R. H. Skip with; judge, Mr. R. B. Lusk; clerk, of ecales, Mr. H. B. Massey; clerk of course, Mr: W. S. Hiret; surgeons, Dr. Abbott and Dr. Griffin; timekeeper, Mr. J. ,K. Douglas; veterinary surgeons, Dr. W. C. Ring, Mr. J. Lyons and Mr. R. P. Kinloch.
