CLASSIC CLUB.

An interesting programme of music by German composers was presented at the Classic Club's eighth meeting of the season, which was presided over by the president, Dr. S. K. Phillips. Members who contributed items were:—Mr. Leslie Russell, who sang "Where E'er You Walk" (Handel), "Serenade," "Who is Sylvia" (Schubert); Miss Julie Williams' numbers were "Devotion" (Franz), "With Myrtle and Roses" (Schumann), "The First Violet" (Mendelssohn), and an operatic scena, "Elsa's Dream" (Wagner); Miss Freda Tibbutt sang "0 Forest Cool," "The Sandman" (Brahms) and "The Fishermaiden," "The Fisherman" (Schubert); Mrs. C. Lee's contralto solos were "How Changed the Vision" (Handel), "Che Faro" (Gluck), "Love Triumphant" (Brahms) and "The Linden Tree" (Schubert); Mr. James Rameay's songs included "To be Sung on the Waters," "The Stormy Morning" (Schubert), and "Love of Freedom," and "Two Grenadiers" (Schumann). Pianoforte solos "Novellette in F" and "Traumeswirren" (Schumann), were rendered by Miss Tui Ward, and Mr. Alan Pow contributed "Sonata in C" (0p.2) by Beethoven.

The accompanists for the evening were Mrs. Maud Lyeaght, Mr. Alan Pow and Dr. S.. K. Phillips.
