SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
A delightful evening was spent at the Peter Pan Cabaret last week, when Miss Joyce Holdsworth, who was wearing chestnut brown velvet, held her coming-of-age with a few friends. Those present were: Misses 0. Hood, T. Johnston, B. Ryan, E. Holdsworth, S. McClure, S. .Tolly, O. Lewis, C. Eeeken, E. Hills, J. Shaw, B. Kirchner. • • • • A meeting of the gardening circle of the Lyceum Club wae held on Monday afternoon. Moet of the time was occupied by business matters, chiefly connected with arrangments for the national flower show. Mrs. A. M. Seaman was appointed as tho circle's representative to the National Rose Society. The afternoon concluded with tea and an interesting "tree" competition, of which the winner was Mrs. Martin. • • • • The St. Helier's Bay Croquet Club held their fortnightly progressive bridge in the bowlere' pavilion on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Lowe, the president, received the guests. Prizes given by Mrs. Porter were won by Mrs. Soper, Mrs. Kretchmar and Mrs. Carter. Among those present were: Mesdames McGregor, McMaster, Dunn, Mander, Carter, Lloyd, Jones, Biggs, Harvey (Kohimarama), Clarke, White, Soper, Birke, Brookfleld, Boyce, Gisby, Inglie, Roberts, McChesney, Negus, Lockwood, Moodie, Wright, Kretchmar, H. K. Smith, Baylise, Porter, Laslett (2), Lowe, Garrard, and the Misses Hodgson, Waddell, Porter and Appleyard.
