STANDARD INSURANCE. INCREASED INCOME. SAME DIVIDEND. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, this day. The annual report of directors of the Standard Insurance Company states that income; from all sources for the year amounts to £ 175,791 12/1, to which has to bo added the balance brought forward from last year, £20,027 0/5. Surplus on the year's operations, alter making full provision for all ascertained losses to June 30, payment of interim dividend, donation to guarantee and provident fund, depreciation of securities and properties £9000, and allocation of £10,000 to reserve fund, amounts to £32,555 12/. Out of th:s surplus the directors recommend payment of a dividend at the rate of 1/3 per share and to curry forward to next year the balance, £20,055 12/. '
From these particulars it appears that total income has increased by £4426. The year's surplus is £29 higher, but the "transfer to reserve fund in the previous year was £20,000. The dividend is at the unchanged rate of 12% per cent. COMMERCIAL OF SYDNEY. NET PROFITS INCREASED. The net profit of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney, Limited, for the year ended June 30 was £263,937, an incrcaee of £7208. The dividend for the year is unchanged at o per cent, requiring '£236,051. The euni of £2:5,000 iri transferred to premises account and £121,339 is carried forward, against £119,353 brought into the accounts. CUNARD-WHITE STAR. (Received 10 a.m.)
LONDON, August 6
The first report of the Cunard-White Star Shipping Company to December 12, 1934, shows a lose; of £408,000. The report points out that the practical effectiveness of the merging of the companies' operations was not obtained to any considerable measure before the commencement of 193j.
