TEACHERS' LEAVE.

THREE DAYS FOR WEDDING

SPORT AND MILITARY CAMP. To attend the golden wedding of his parents a teacher can, according to the regulations, obtain one school day's leave and any requisite travelling time on full pay, or for his own wedding he can get three school days and requisite travelling time. These and other interesting points were included in a report made to the Auckland Education Board by the secretary, Mr. D. W. Dunlop. "The catch in it," he said, "is that the maximum leave with full pay that can bo given, including travelling time, must not exceed five school days." The question of leave granted to attend military examinations and camps, and to represent New Zealand in international sporting matches, was dealt with in the report which set down the seals as follows, in each case requisite travelling time being in addition:—(l) Death of husband, wife, child or parent, three school days; (2) death of brother or sister, two school days; (3) other near relative or relative-in-lavv, or member of teacher's household, one school day; (4) serious illness of husband, wife, parent, child, brother or sister, two school days; (5) serious illness of other near relative or member of household, one school day; (<i) marriage of teacher himself, three school days; (7) marriage of child, brother or sister, one school day; (8) golden wedding of parents, one school day; (9) representing New Zealand in international matches, days of matches and days for training; (10) examination in music, military and other similar examinations, if to improve status as teacher, actual half-day of examination; (11) capping day, if teacher himself capped, one school day; (12) military camp, provided no pay is allowed by the Defence Department, full pay allowed up to five days; (13) in cases where a teacher is isolated by infectious diseases, five school days, and thereafter sick pay; and (14) attendance of teacher at jubilee of school where he has taught, one school day.

it was pointed out that tho whole matter was, however, at the discretion of the Education Board.
