MR. R. A. PLUMMER.
An old Thames resident, Mr. Robert Armstrong Plummer, died in the hospital there on August 6, aged 81 years. He was born in Tasmania and came to bhe Dominion with his parents as a child. He received his schooling at Onehunga and later worked for Major Jackson at Te Awamutu for many years before undertaking mining and bushfelling work at Tapu on his own account. In later years he was mine manager for the Sylvia Company. Mr. Plummer married Miss Bennett, of Tapu, shortly after going to the Thames district' and had for the past 135 years lived at Tapu, where he was chairman of the school committee for a number of years and was largely responsible for the securing of the Tapu Flat as a war memorial reserve.
