AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD. WEEK-EOTD , REPRESENTATIVE GAMES. CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL FIXTURE. Arrangements for the trial representative attraction at Carlaw Park on Saturday were confirmed at a lengthy meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding. The Taranaki League, in accepting the invitation to play Auckland, advised that the party'would consist of 16 players in charge of Mr. A. Lawrence (chairman of the management) and Mr. G. Hooker. It was expected Taranaki would play very creditably. The team should arrive in Auckland about 5 p.m. on Friday. The South Auckland League, which will arrive at 11 a.m. on Saturday, will consist of 15 players, with Mr. A. Harloek as manager, accompanied by the centre selectors. Both teams will be at.Hotel Auckland and will be the guests of the Control Board at dinner after the match. With regard to admission it was decided to make the gate charge 1/ all round, grandstand to be 1/ extra. It was decided that the championship final between Richmond Rovers and Mount Albert United be played on Saturday week, the other four clubs to be drawn to play in early matches. Owing to the intervention of the inter-Island match, the Roqpe Rooster competition will commence on August 24.

A deputation from the Point Chevalier Club, consisting of Messrs. J. Hing (chairman and coach) and J. Bladder, committee member, asked the board's cooperation for a special senior match to be staged in.the district in connection with the queen carnival in operation for the building of a training shed and clubhouse for the Point Chevalier Club. It was reported that the scheme was receiving considerable encouragement already. Mr. Campbell urged the club to make an effort to obtain a well-lighted ground rather than confine training to a shed. It was decided to favourably consider the deputation's request and do all possible to help the club and its district. The New Zealand Council advised approval of the reinstatement of H. J. Irvine (Auckland) and thanked the board for the use of Carlaw Park for the interIsland match on August 17. Suggestions made by the treasurer, Mr. J. E. Knowling; for facilitating the admission of the public to the park and to improve seating accommodation were adopted. It was also decided to exercise more control of players who caused inconvenience to patrons on the stand by moving back from the front seat sections when rain fell. The Wellington League, in officially thanking the board for the Richmond team visit, said the match had done a great deal of good for the code in the centre in spite of the unfavourable weather. Reinstatement: S. E. Connor, to Akarana. Transfer: C. L. W. Everett, Mount Albert second grade to Newton senior Registration: W. Carroll, ex-South Auckland Union representative, to Marist Old Boys.

WAITANGI SHIELD MATCH. AUCKLAND BEATS N. AUCKLAND. On a field of mud at Carlaw Park yesterday afternoon, Tamaki Maoris beat North-Auckland Maoris by 24 points to 8, thus retaining the Waitangi Shield. It was a scrappy, aimless game, m which the Maoris showed little appreciation of positional play, and in which long lob passes, sometimes thrown 20 yards, which should have spelt disaster, were indulged in by The el Waitangi Shield was donated last season and has been held by Hawke's Bay and Taranaki. At all stages of yesterday s match Auckland were too strong for an opposition that obviously knew little of the League game. There was little of real merit in the play of either side but what was lacking in the standard of football was amply compensated for in the many amusing incidents that cropped up throughout the match. «+,„»» One, of the most disappointing features of the match was the weak tackling. It almost appeared at times that the Tamaki mSi especially L. Brown, the clever attacking centre three-quarter, let his man beat him for the purpose of giving the opposition some sort of chance. Tries for Tamaki were scored by L Brown (two), Faulkner, Kauhoa, Hapi ■vnd Tawhai. Turei converted two and Kauhoa one. North Auckland's scorers were P. Jones and D. Jones, while Rata kinked a nenalty goal. ' Mr. S. Billman was the referee.
