OTTAWA PACTS' SUCCESS.
Figures showing how the Ottawa agreements have improved the trade between England and other parts of the Empire were quoted recently by Lieut.Colonel .T. Colville, M.P., Secretary of the British Department of Overseas Trade. The value of exports, including reexports, from this country to the other countries signing the Ottawa agreements had, he said, increased by £28,300,000 between 1032 and 1034. The total included the following increases:— To .£ Canada ....*... 3.."00.000 Australia 0.000.000 New Zealand ... 1.000,000 British India . . . 2,500,000 South Africa .. . 12.000,000 Co-operation between this country and the vest of the Empire was becoming closer. Colonel Colville said. The lO3f> trade figures were rather better than those of 1934, and he believed they could be made to grow still further. Prospects for the future were distinctly hopeful.
