RECIPROCAL TRADE.
N.Z. AND UNITED STATES. AGREEMENT SOUGHT. A letter from the Minister of Industries and Commerce,' Mr. Masters, in regard to a reciprocal trade agreement with the United .States, was received by the council of tlie Auckland Chamber of Commerce this morning. In his letter the Minister stated , 'that the.semi-official conversations which had been carried on had not, xip to the present, been successful in bringing the matter to a point of definite negotiations between the two Countries. Mr. Masters said that if the Chambers of Commerce iu New Zealand were to take the matter up with similar organisations, and with commercial interests in the- United' States, such activities would be-all to the good. He was hopeful that something ■ would be accomplished by Mr. Coates when in the United States on his way home to New Zealand.
