EXERCISES FOR SLIMMING.
If you want to be slim, you must make a firm resolve to get up a quarter of an hour earlier in the morning, and practise exercises determinedly every day. While still clad in your pyjamas—or, if you prefer, don a bathing suit—open the windows and lie flat on the floor. Lift right leg. Then lift left leg. Then both legs. Now swing each leg circularly. Then pedal hard with both legs as if you were riding a bicycle. Now walk about on all fours, slowly and deliberately. After each movement resume the starting position, and exercise each limb twenty times before exercising the other. Stand up, and, with arms above the head, rise on the toes. Stretch and stretch as high as you can. Relax and repeat. With arms as before, 6wing down and touch the feet with the fingers. Now swing over sideways and try to touch the floor on your right side, then upright again, and bend over to touch the floor, left side. Hold on to a chair throw back the right leg from the hips and swing the right arm forward and up. Then the reverse limbs. This is an excellent movement for the waist and shoulders.
