FALL AT THEATRE.
PJUAINTIFF LOSES CASE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday.
The claim for £1460 17/6, brought by Sydney James Green, against Christchurch Cinemas, Limited, as damages for injuries received when he fell down some steps at St. James' Theatre, was determined in the Supreme Court to-day by Mr. Justice Northcroft. Judgment was given for defendants with costs. The judge said that the plaintiff's fall had not been caused by the steepness of the steps. He had passed through a door into a dark lavatory, assuming that he was on a flat floor. The lights had been tampered with, and the evidence was that they had been satisfactory before they were damaged. His Honor held that plaintiff's accident was caused by Ms own negligence.
