VISIT TO OXFORD.
NEW ZEALANDERS ENTERTAIN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, Juno G. There was a very pleasant gathering of New Zealanders when the New Zealand Club at Oxford (known as the Hongi Club) entertained Mr. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, and Dr. R. M. Campbell, a mehiber of his official party in England. The guests were entertained to dinner in the Senior Common Room at Merton College. Mr. John Mulgan, formerly of Aiickland University College ■ and now at Merton, president of the Hongi Club, was in the chair, and had Mr. Coates on his right, and on his left Mr. Deane Jones, the senior tutor of Merton. Of the eighteen persons present, twelve were New Zealanders in Oxford, including Mr. Frank Taylor, a don at Christ Church. The visitors included Dr. A. J. Harrop, representative of the New Zealand University in England, and Mr. G. W. D. Mulgan. The secretary of the club is Mr. Lan Milner, formerly of Canterbury College, Rhodes Scholar of 1934. The toast of "New Zealand" was proposed by Mr. J. M. Bertram, Rhodes scholar, of Auckland, and Mr. Coates and Dr. Campbell replied. Next day members of the Hongi Club assisted in showing Mr. Coates and Dr. Campbell round Oxford, and the visitors were the guests of Mr. M. M. Cooper, another Rhodes Scholar, at University College.
